Joey has been with K.D. Engineering for over 4 years. Joey started in our Balancing Department and eventually became part of our estimating and office support team. Joey is currently our Head Estimator and he also takes care of much of our in-house IT. Joey has led KD in the implementation of new software applications that our field technicians and office staff use daily. In his spare time, Joey stays busy with his young family.

Steve, a BCIT grad has been with KD Engineering since 2001 and has recently taken over the position of Balancing Department Manager. Steve schedules all of KD’s field balancing technologists and ensures that the final balancing reports are clear and concise. For the past several years, Steve was KD’s balancing field supervisor in charge of ensuring that KD’s field technologists had the support and assistance they needed to deliver a quality balancing service every time. Steve in his off time spends time with his family.

Ali, a KD employee since 1989, is well known and well respected in the BC construction industry as an experienced commissioning provider and an expert balancing technologist. Ali is currently the Commissioning Department Manager at K.D. In the past, Ali worked as the Commissioning Authority and Mechanical Commissioning Agent on some high-profile projects such as the Surrey Memorial Hospital Teck Acute Care Centre, the BC Women’s and BC Children’s Hospital Redevelopment Project, the Joseph and Rosalie Family Health Centre and the award winning VanDusen Gardens Visitors Centre. Ali’s friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of mechanical systems provides clients with an unmatched level of expertise to ensure that jobs are commissioned properly. Ali enjoys time off with his family and travelling back to his home in Lebanon whenever he gets the chance. Ali currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Building Commissioning Association, Western Canadian Chapter.

A longtime KD employee, John runs K.D.’s Operating and Maintenance Manuals division. With over 25 years of experience, John has the knowledge to produce quality O&M manuals that meet specifications and will serve a building owner for years to come. John’s extensive experience in the mechanical industry means that manuals are delivered to the customer in a timely manner with minimal review comments from the consultant. When John is not at work, he practices Karate, and enjoys motorcycle touring.

Paul started in KD’s Manuals Department after graduating from BCIT in 1988. After several years of working in KD’s Balancing Department, Paul became part of KD’s Commissioning Team where he completed many different mechanical commissioning and LEED commissioning projects. Paul was the Commissioning Department Manager from 2013 -2023 after several years of being the Projects Coordinator. Paul has recently become semi-retired but still comes into the office several times a week to assist with company management tasks. When he’s not at his day job, Paul works in Municipal Government as a Councillor in the Village of Anmore, a community that he is passionate about. Paul also sits on the Metro Vancouver Zero Waste Committee and is an Alternate Director on the Metro Vancouver Board of Directors.

Larry Ramos started working in K.D. Engineering’s Balancing Department in 2012. Larry’s calm demeanor and willingness to take on new challenges made him the perfect candidate for the Balancing Field Supervisor position when it became available. Larry oversees the training of new technicians and technologists and ensures that KD’s high standards are maintained. Larry enjoys spending time with his young family and playing DOTA 2 when he’s not dealing with the constant challenges that his job entails.
